All opinions voiced on here are mine, I don't speak for or represent Slimming World in any way. All I am is an average man in the street who is following their diet plan and using this blog to talk about how it's going. I'm also not saying that my way of following the plan is the right way. I'm sure I'll get things wrong from time to time but we're all human, right? My main aim is to keep a record of my meals and syns that I can look back on for inspiration in those times when I'm flagging a bit! There will be both the good and the bad times that I encounter through the plan (though hopefully there won't be too much bad, I want this to be a success!).
I've always loved to cook and have always preferred to cook meals myself from scratch rather than relying on ready meals (yes they're quicker, but they DON'T taste better, they are MORE expensive and they are full of RUBBISH). That's not to say that I never indulge, Tesco Finest Ham Hock Leek and Potato Gratin has a special place in my heart (and it's only 5 1/2 syns for the whole pack, so I can treat myself to it from time to time). I'm very partial to gadgets of any kind (I know, boys and their toys) and so I have a staggering array of kitchen equipment stashed in various cupboards, though the ice cream maker is pretty much the only thing that has hardly ever been used (I'm more of a savoury kind of guy).
Bread is my big weakness, I love all kinds and love a nice sandwich! Obviously, since starting on the Slimming World plan, I have mostly cut that out. The odd time that I do have bread, I've been "buttering" it with extra light mayonnaise, which has been working out better than I expected (though only for sandwiches, I don't think I'd like to eat it on it's own). I've been trying to find out if I can spray a slice of bread with butter flavoured Fry Light as a syn-free butter substitute but I kind of think of Fry Light as a bit of a chemical-y thing, so I probably won't try that until I've asked around to see if others have tried it (watch this space!).
There, you know a little more about me now. I'm not writing War and Peace, so I think I've said enough for the moment - wish me luck!
